Józef Robakowski: The Energy Manifesto

As he says in an engaging conversation with Krzysztof Cichoń and Andrzej Walczak, he intends to create a situation in the gallery that is laboratory-like and artificial, yet welcoming to anyone who wishes to spend time in it. An encounter with Józef Robakowski’s art will certainly be interesting for the viewer: the authors of two texts written especially for the exhibition have no doubt about that. In a fascinating essay, Łukasz Ronduda discusses the artist’s work to date. Adam Mazur closely analyses Józef Robakowski’s latest project and draws our attention to the fact that ‘an encounter with an elemental force is possible today only in a gallery, because true power is art’.

The exceptional nature of Józef Robakowski’s exhibition is further enhanced by the publication of its catalogue in the monthly ‘Art&Business’. Catalogues for subsequent exhibitions at Atlas Sztuki will appear in this same publication.

Recalling from elementary classical phenomenological thermodynamics that internal energy is a function of a system’s state and that its increase is equal to the work put into the system, and taking into account the time and labour that Józef Robakowski has invested in the project presented at Atlas Sztuki, we may expect such a significant increase in internal energy that an explosion of the system is highly probable.
